DOI : 10.5146/jcpath.2018.28 Aim: Breast cancer accounts for about 30% of all cancers in women. Breast cancer in women takes the fifth place in cancer-related deaths. In Europe, 180,000, and in the United States (USA), 184,000 new cases are determined annually. In this study, we aimed to contribute to future Turkey breast cancer map, that will be formed, by determining histologic distribution and prognostic determinants of breast carcinomas in our region.

Materials and Methods: Mastectomy materials reveived between 2002-2017 were re-evaluated and prognostic factors were documented.

Results: There were 423 cases. Most of the cases were invasive ductal carcinomas. Most of the cases were older than 51 years. There were lymph node metastases in the two thirds of the cases. Both estrogen and progesteron receptor positivity rate was 82%.Cerb B2 expression was defined in more than 80% of cases. Most of the cases were grade 2, and the ratio of grade 1 cases was very low.

Conclusion: Most of the invasive breast cancer cases are invasive ductal carcinoma. Most of the tumors are 2-5 cm in dimensions. Estrogen and progesteron expression rates are lower, but axillary lymph node metastases rates are higher in high grade cancers. Anahtar Kelimeler : Breast tumor, Epidemiology, Prognostic parameters
